Product Description

LC4 Chaise Longue(full name: 4 Chaise Longue à réglage continu)is an iconic modernist furniture piece designed in 1928 by Le Corbusier, Pierre Jeanneret and Charlotte Perriand, and first presented at the 1929 Paris Salon d’Automne. The initials LC stand for Le Corbusier, and 4 denotes its sequence in the furniture collection.

Le Corbusier famously called it a “machine à se reposer” (ultimate relaxing machine). It embodies the core principles of modernism: functionality, ergonomics and minimalism. The chaise features a polished chrome tubular steel frame sliding on a black-lacquered steel base, with cushions and headrest typically upholstered in cowhide or leather. The frame slides freely on the base, enabling infinite reclining positions to cradle the human body perfectly. First produced by Thonet Frères, it has been exclusively manufactured by Cassina since 1965 under license from the Fondation Le Corbusier. A permanent collection of MoMA New York, the LC4 is widely regarded as one of the most influential design classics of the 20th century.

  • Dimensions: approx. 156×60×66 cm
  • Materials: Chrome plated steel pipe, black painted steel. The headrest and contact surface are made of top layer cowhide or imported horsehair.
