Product Description

Wassily Chair

Designer: Marcel Lajos Breuer, a master of the Bauhaus school.

Year: 1925–1926, during the Bauhaus period in Dessau, Germany.

Original Name: Model B3. Later named after his friend and Bauhaus professor, Wassily Kandinsky.

✨ Design Concept

Inspired by the tubular steel frame of a bicycle, Breuer introduced lightweight, strong seamless steel tubes into furniture, pioneering modern tubular steel furniture.

  • Breaking the heaviness of traditional solid wood, it features a transparent structure and minimalist lines, embodying the core Bauhaus principles of "art meets industry" and "form follows function".
  • Influenced by the Dutch De Stijl movement, it reduces the classic club chair to a pure geometric skeleton. The seat and backrest appear as floating planes, balancing rationality and lightness.
